Spring and Summer 2017

The Ukraine Support Fund not only provides Ukrainian military field hospitals with state-of-the-art medical equipment, we also provide training for military doctors deployed to the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine in the use of various types of diagnostic equipment.

Recently, Ukraine Support Fund medical staff not only continued to deliver diagnostic equipment to mobile military hospitals, we also carried out an intensive training program on the use of portable ultrasound machines, such as those used by the US military, essential to front-line military doctors.

The delivery of equipment and doctor-training programs, that meet NATO standards, is part of the Ukrainian Military Women's Health Initiative that forms an essential part of the Ukraine Support Fund's efforts to improve the delivery of health services for female military service personnel deployed in eastern Ukraine.

We are the only non-governmental organization that has the permission of both Ukraine's Ministry of Defense and General Staff of the Armed Forces to provide these medical and training services in the Donbas combat zone.

Dr. Olena Burlaka, representing the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, oversees our doctor-training program which has fast-tracked the training and skills upgrading of physicians and medical practitioners currently stationed in the war zone in eastern Ukraine.

These doctors are currently deployed in military field hospitals near Chasiv Yar as well as Avdiyivka, which treats wounded soldiers from the conflict areas of Debaltsevo and Pisky.

The Ukraine Support Fund is able to carry out the training program thanks to our four-partner Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine,  Chief of the General Staff and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
